Ingredients
- 4 large golden delicious apples
- 2 bags (11 ounces, each) milk chocolate chips
- 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 bag (11 ounces) white chocolate chips
- 1 bag (11 ounces) caramel bits
Toppings
- chopped nuts
- sprinkles
- mini chocolate chips
Instructions
Line 2 large cookie sheets with wax or parchment paper. Set aside. Wash apples with water, then pat dry. Slice each apple into 1/2 inch slices (you should get about 4 slices per apple).
Heat milk chocolate chips and oil in a large microwave-safe bowl until melted. About 60 seconds or so. Stir well. (CAREFUL, it will obviously be hot!) Let the chocolate stand just a couple of minutes to cool slightly, then dip each apple slice into the chocolate coating, both sides – let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
Place coated apple slices on prepared cookie sheets for the chocolate to set. You can place the apples in the fridge to set faster.
Heat white chocolate chips and caramel bits in separate microwave-safe bowls. Drizzle each onto the apple slices, then quickly top with desired toppings. Let it stand until the chocolate has set. Serve and enjoy!

Storage
Store leftover Caramel Apple Slices in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to keep them fresh and crisp. Freezing is possible for up to 1 month, but thaw in the fridge before serving. These slices are best enjoyed fresh, and if refrigerated, let them sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving. Avoid microwaving, as it may melt the chocolate and caramel.
Holly’s Tips for The Best Caramel Apple Slices:
- Choose Crisp Apples: Use firm, golden delicious apples for the best texture and sweetness.
- Slice Evenly: Cut apples into uniform ½-inch slices so chocolate and caramel coat evenly and set properly.
- Melt Chocolate Carefully: Heat milk and white chocolate in short intervals in the microwave, stirring often to prevent burning.
- Drizzle Quickly: Work quickly when adding white chocolate, caramel, and toppings to prevent the coatings from hardening before decorating.
- Customize Toppings: Chopped nuts, sprinkles, or mini chocolate chips make each slice fun and festive.
- Set Properly: Allow chocolate and caramel to set on parchment-lined cookie sheets or in the fridge for faster results.
- Serve Fresh: These slices are best enjoyed the same day for optimal flavor and crispness.

Yes! 🙂
Hi Holly, Could these be made in advance? If so how far in advance would you recommend? Thanks bunches
Hi Christy! I think they’d be fine made one or two days in advance!
Do you put them in the refrigerator to get them hard so it stays on the bottom
