CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE PIE
Whenever I ask my husband, Kale, what kind of treat he wants, he always requests his favorite Chocolate Chip Pudding Cookies. Last time I wanted to make a dessert, I decided to make this amazing pie instead, and I was so pleased with how simple it is to make. Instead of scooping out dozens of cookies, you can pour the batter into a pre-made frozen pie crust and bake. Serve a slice with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for a wonderful treat.

- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (I use a Marie Callender frozen deep-dish crust)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup real butter softened
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (I personally love to use milk chocolate baking chips)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Beat eggs in a large bowl on high speed until foamy (about 1 minute).
On low speed, beat in flour and both sugars. Then add in butter, and mix until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
Carefully spoon batter into unbaked pie crust. Spread batter out evenly.
Bake for 55 minutes. (Check for doneness by inserting a knife halfway between center and edge, and it comes out clean).
Let cool at least 30 minutes to an hour before slicing! Serve with whipped cream, ice cream or both and enjoy!
Servings
Yields: 8 servings.
Storage and Reheating
Allow the cookie pie to cool completely, then store it covered in the refrigerator for up to 4–5 days. For longer storage, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and foil and freeze for up to 2 months, thawing in the fridge before serving. To enjoy warm, reheat individual slices in the microwave for 15–20 seconds or the whole pie in a 325°F oven for 10–15 minutes, and serve with ice cream or whipped cream for the ultimate dessert.
Holly’s Tips for The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie:
- Room Temperature Is Best: Softened butter and room-temperature eggs mix more easily with the sugars, creating a smooth, creamy batter and a soft, chewy pie texture.
- Don’t Overmix: Once the flour and butter are combined, mix the batter just until incorporated to avoid a dense or tough pie.
- Cool Before Slicing: Let the pie rest for at least 30 minutes to an hour after baking so it sets properly and slices cleanly.
- Serve With Your Favorite Toppings: Add a scoop of ice cream, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, or whipped cream to elevate this chocolate cookie pie.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Yes, you can prepare the pie and bake it ahead, then store it in the refrigerator. It stays fresh for 4–5 days and is perfect for holidays or parties.
Insert a knife halfway between the center and the edge. It should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs. This ensures a fully baked pie with a soft, chewy center.
Nope. While a frozen deep-dish crust is convenient, a homemade or graham cracker crust works just as well for this cookie pie.
If the center is too soft, it may need additional baking time. Make sure your oven is preheated and check doneness with a knife inserted near the center.
To make Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie dairy-free, use a dairy-free pie crust and substitute the butter with a plant-based alternative, such as coconut oil or vegan butter. Replace the chocolate chips with dairy-free or vegan chocolate chips. These simple swaps let you enjoy the same soft, gooey, chocolatey dessert without any dairy.
To make Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie gluten-free, simply swap the regular pie crust for a gluten-free pie crust and use a gluten-free all-purpose flour in the filling. Ensure your chocolate chips are labeled gluten-free as well. With these simple substitutions, you can enjoy the same soft, gooey, chocolatey pie without any gluten.

Even though I don’t have 3 kids, I still get super ecited everytime I get to go to the grocery store by myself. I love getting to look at everything without feeling rushed. The next time my bf asks for chocolate chip cookies (which is all the time), I’m making this!

Why on earth didn’t WE think of that?! You know I tried that once with Brownie Batter, and the darn thing didn’t turn out. It was gooey in the center and the crust burnt. My daughter would FLIP over this! Fantastic Picture by the by!

Wow! That looks amazing – and much easier than making cookie after cookie.
So purty! Your presentation is beautiful!
I’ve been making this for years… the original recipe that I have uses 1 cup of melted butter. I usually only make it for the holidays, but it has always been a hit! Trust me… if you like warm chocolate chip cookies, you will love this. Make sure to warm your slice in the microwave for a few seconds before serving. That’s the way we do it around here!
Oh dear Holly, we absolutely love this one as well! Have two in the oven now. Holybegesus, we love love love this pie!!
It’s in the oven right now! Eat your hearts out….can’t you just smell all that yumminess!?
I think I would do this without the pie crust and just pour it into a 9 by 13 inch baking dish and make it cookie bars.
Very delicious!
Holly, I made this the other night for dessert with your 3 packet roast recipe, and my husband was not sure at first because he had never heard of it. After trying it, all he said was, “Okay, this is good!” And would not share it with anyone else. Lol. Thanks!
That is so great to hear! SO happy they were both such a success 🙂
This is truly an experience to share with family and friends.
