CHOCOLATE CHIP SKILLET COOKIE
There is a popular pizza place here in St. George called “Pizza Factory.” I grew up eating their amazing pizzas and breadsticks. They have a dessert on their menu called “Never on Sundae.” This is a chocolate chip skillet cookie just like the one I’m sharing today. They place scoops of vanilla ice cream over the warm cookie and drizzle lots of caramel and chocolate sauce on top. It is my favorite dessert on the planet!

Holly’s Tips for the Best Chocolate Ship Skillet Cookie:
- Use A Well-Seasoned Mini Cast-Iron Skillet: It ensures even baking and easy release.
- Don’t Overmix: Stir until just combined to keep the cookie soft and tender.
- Keep An Eye On Baking Time: The cookie should be golden around the edges but slightly soft in the center.
- Top Immediately: Add ice cream, caramel, or chocolate drizzle while warm for the ultimate indulgence.
- Experiment With Mix-ins: Try adding chopped nuts, different chocolate varieties, or a sprinkle of sea salt on top.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Yes! Use a small oven-safe dish, but baking time may need an extra 1–2 minutes.
Absolutely! Any chocolate you prefer works. Mix it up for different flavors.
You can prepare the batter ahead and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Bake just before serving.
The center should be soft and gooey. Bake until edges are golden; the center will set as it cools.
To make the Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie gluten-free, simply substitute the all-purpose flour with a 1:1 gluten-free baking flour blend that contains xanthan gum (like Bob’s Red Mill or King Arthur Gluten-Free Flour). The rest of the ingredients are naturally gluten-free, but double-check the chocolate chips and any toppings to ensure they don’t contain gluten. The cookie may be slightly softer or more delicate, so bake carefully and consider chilling the batter for a few minutes before baking to help it hold its shape.
