Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened (I use salted butter)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh strawberries
  • 2 Tablespoons strawberry jam
  • 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

In a medium-sized bowl, add the softened butter, finely chopped fresh strawberries, strawberry jam, and powdered sugar.

Using an electric hand mixer (or you can whip it up by hand), start beating the mixture on low speed to combine the ingredients without splattering. Gradually increase to medium-high speed and continue whipping for about 2–3 minutes until the butter is smooth, creamy, and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure everything is evenly mixed. (I like mine fluffy and whipped well!)

Once well blended, transfer the strawberry butter to a serving dish or airtight container. Serve immediately on your favorite bread or baked goods, or refrigerate until ready to use. Enjoy!

Servings

Yields: 1 heaping cup of homemade strawberry butter.

Storage

Store the strawberry butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. For longer storage, freeze it for up to 2 months. It’s best to let it sit and thaw before serving.

Holly’s Tips for The Best Strawberry Butter:

  • Change It Up: This strawberry butter recipe works beautifully with other fruits, too! Try swapping in raspberries, grapes, or apricots for fun and flavorful variations. Even if strawberries are out of season, this recipe can be easily swapped with other fruits as the seasons change throughout the year.
  • Serve Fresh or Chill For Later: Serve immediately or chill in the fridge to let flavors meld. Bring back to room temperature before serving for easy spreading.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why should I use softened butter?

Softened butter at room temperature mixes more easily and helps create a light, fluffy texture. I’m obsessed with this Le Creuset Butter Stoneware Dish from Amazon. It comes in handy for recipes like this one!

How finely should I chop the strawberries?

It’s all up to you! Finely chopping the strawberries helps the flavor blend evenly and keeps the butter smooth. But if you love little bursts and chunks of fresh fruit, feel free to leave some bigger pieces for extra texture and flavor. It’s all about your preference.

Can I use granulated sugar instead of powdered sugar?

You can use granulated sugar, but powdered sugar helps keep the butter smooth and creamy, preventing a grainy texture that granulated sugar can create.

How can I make this strawberry butter recipe healthier?

Start by using unsalted or reduced-fat butter to lower saturated fat and sodium. Replace the powdered sugar with natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or powdered erythritol. (I would test this first before serving, as it will alter the taste and texture). Adding extra fresh strawberries or fruit puree boosts fiber and nutrients, while mixing in chia seeds adds omega-3s and fiber for a nutrition boost. Using grass-fed or organic butter will also improve the quality of fats in the recipe.
