Storage
Caramel Apple Nachos are best enjoyed fresh, as the apples will brown and the toppings can lose their texture over time. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a day or two. To help prevent browning, you can toss the apple slices in a little lemon juice before assembling. Reheating isn’t recommended since the apples can become soft and the caramel may harden unevenly. If you do want to slightly warm them, place them on a microwave-safe plate and heat in 5–10 second intervals, just enough to loosen the caramel.
Holly’s Tips for the Best Caramel Apple Nachos:
- Use Fresh Produce: Choose the best available produce near you. Crisp, tart apples are ideal for this recipe and bring forward the best flavor. Granny Smith apples are a personal fall favorite of mine. Their bright tartness perfectly balances the rich caramel and sweet chocolate used in this recipe.
- Slice Apples Right Before Serving: This keeps them fresh and prevents browning. If you need to prep ahead, toss slices in lemon juice.
- Take Your Time: Melt the toppings slowly. Heat the caramel and chocolate in short microwave intervals to prevent scorching and keep them smooth for drizzling.
- Layer Evenly: Arrange apple slices in a single layer so each piece gets an even amount of caramel, chocolate, and toppings.
- Serve Immediately: Caramel Apple Nachos are best enjoyed fresh for the perfect crisp, gooey, and crunchy bite.
- Get Creative With Toppings: Add crushed cookies, sprinkles, pretzels, or even a drizzle of peanut butter for your own twist.

These look amazing! Definitely making these soon!
They look delicious, but how do you keep the apples from turning brown, once they are cut??
Arlene, you can spray them with a little lemon water and that will keep them from browning. 🙂
Ooooohhhhhhh! My kiddos would love these! Just like candy apples, but without being “too” much. My oldest would get a kick out of being in charge of the toppings, as well!. Thanks for sharing!
I can’t wait to make these with my grandchildren. They look amazing and easy to make! Thank you for the recipe.
I have made these several times and the kids love them. My chocolate and caramel do not come out looking as pretty as the pictures, but they taste great!
I had some leftover homemade caramel sauce and decided to make these apple nachos. I topped them with chopped pecans — my kids loved this snack! Thanks for the idea.
