Servings
A 9×13-inch pan of fudge typically yields about 40-48 pieces when cut into 1-inch squares, depending on how you slice it.
Storage
Store your leftover fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or refrigerate it for 2-3 weeks for longer freshness. If stacking pieces, separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Fudge also freezes well; wrap individual pieces in plastic wrap, place them in a freezer-safe container, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge, then bring to room temperature before serving.
Holly’s Tips for The Best See’s Fudge Recipe:
- Use High-Quality Chocolate Chips: Real semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips melt smoothly and give this homemade See’s fudge its rich, signature flavor.
- Stir The Mixture Constantly: Keeping the sugar and evaporated milk moving prevents burning and creates that classic creamy chocolate fudge texture.
- Boil For The Full 7 Minutes: This step is key for achieving smooth, sliceable fudge. Set a timer so the mixture reaches the perfect consistency.
- Mix Quickly Off The Heat: Add the butter, chocolate chips, vanilla, and walnuts right away so everything melts together into a silky, glossy fudge.
- Prepare Your Pan Well: A generously buttered 9×13 pan makes it easy to remove and cut clean, even squares of this easy Christmas fudge.
- Allow The Fudge To Cool Completely: Cooling in the fridge helps the fudge firm up properly for neat, uniform pieces.
- Customize The Fudge: Walnuts add the classic crunch found in traditional See’s fudge, but you can leave them out for a smooth, nut-free version.

Wondering, are you suppose to continue to stir the mixture for the entire 7 minutes that it boils or leave it alone?
No you don’t need to stir it the entire 7 minutes. But stay by it to watch it and to stir it periodically through out that time. 🙂
My family has been making the see’s fudge recipe for 2 generations. It’s just a bit too sweet for us so I lowered the sugar to 2 cups and it’s better. Makes a great gift, too.
