Oreo Cookie Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups Cool Whip, thawed
  • 15 Oreo cookies crushed (not super fine, you still want a few small chunks)

Instructions

In a large bowl, using an electric hand mixer, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. Fold in Cool Whip. Remove about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the crushed Oreos and set aside. Gently fold in the remaining Oreos into the dip.

Transfer to a serving bowl and top with the reserved crushed Oreos.

Refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve with strawberries, apple slices, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, Oreos, or anything you’d like.

Note

To crush the Oreos, I put my Oreos in a large Ziplock bag, seal it up, and then use my rolling pin to crush them. If you use a food processor, then only pulse it a few times.

Servings

Yields: 3 heaping cups of Oreo Dip.

Storage

Store any leftover Oreo dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Keep it chilled until ready to serve, as the cream cheese and Cool Whip base can soften at room temperature. Before serving, give it a gentle stir if it has firmed up slightly, and add a few extra crushed Oreos on top for a fresh look and extra crunch. Do not freeze, as freezing can alter the creamy texture.

Holly’s Tips for The Best Oreo Dip:

  • Use Softened Cream Cheese: Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for a smooth, creamy Oreo Dip without lumps.
  • Thaw Cool Whip Properly: Allow Cool Whip to thaw completely before folding it in to maintain the dip’s light and fluffy texture.
  • Don’t Over-Crush the Oreos: Leave small chunks in the cookies and cream dip for texture; over-processing can make it too powdery.
  • Reserve Some Crushed Oreos for Topping: Adding a few extra Oreos on top not only looks appealing but gives a crunchy contrast to the creamy dip.
  • Chill Dip Before Serving: Refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld and achieve the perfect scoopable consistency.
  • Serve With a Variety of Dippers: This easy Oreo party dip pairs well with strawberries, apple slices, pretzels, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, and more.
  • Quick Crushing Oreos Hack: Place Oreos in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin, or pulse lightly in a food processor a few times to get ideal chunks.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I make Oreo Dip ahead of time?

Absolutely! This make-ahead Oreo dessert dip can be prepared a few hours or even a day in advance, making it ideal for parties, potlucks, or school events.

How can I customize this Oreo Dip?

Add mini chocolate chips, colorful sprinkles, drizzle with chocolate syrup, or use flavored Oreos to create your own twist on this delicious Oreo Dip recipe.

Does Oreo Dip need to be baked?

No baking required! This easy Oreo Dip is a no-bake dessert that comes together in minutes and is perfect for last-minute entertaining.

How can I make Oreo Dip dairy-free?

To make this Oreo Dip dairy-free, substitute the cream cheese with a vegan cream cheese and use a dairy-free whipped topping instead of Cool Whip. Make sure to choose vegan-friendly Oreos (most original Oreos are already dairy-free) and double-check the powdered sugar is vegan. Prepare the dip the same way, folding in the crushed Oreos for a creamy, dairy-free dessert.

How can I make Oreo Dip vegan?

To make this Oreo Dip vegan, use a vegan cream cheese and a plant-based whipped topping in place of Cool Whip. Ensure the Oreos you use are vegan-friendly (most original Oreos are) and check that your powdered sugar is processed without bone char. Mix the ingredients as usual for a creamy, vegan cookies and cream dip.

How can I make Oreo Dip gluten-free?

To make this Oreo Dip gluten-free, use gluten-free Oreo cookies and ensure any other dippers, like graham crackers or wafers, are also gluten-free. The rest of the recipe is naturally gluten-free, so simply fold in the crushed gluten-free Oreos for a safe, gluten-free cookies and cream dip.
